Over the past year, there have been many changes to our sangha. We have moved into a new location, and we have welcomed our own resident teacher to Chicago. Drupon Dorjee La is a highly accomplished lama with great integrity and over seven years of retreat experience. He has been providing us with wonderful teachings and guided meditations on a regular basis for almost one year! In May, Khenchen Konchog Gyaltshen named Drupon Dorjee La to be Spiritual Director of Chicago Ratna Shri Sangha.
The luncheon is sponsored by Norbu Samphel and his wife Dolma with the hope that it will also provide an opportunity to begin a Purchase Fund for attaining a large statue of Lord Buddha for our sangha shrine. We welcome and appreciate any donation however large or small to accomplish this goal!
In the spirit of change and renewal, we hope to be choosing new officers and a new Board of Directors for the Sangha at this time. If you are interested in serving a small organization with many needs for energetic volunteers, or if you would like to nominate someone for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer please contact Bill or John at ratnachi@hotmail.com
Serving the Sangha in any capacity brings with it a great opportunity to earn merit in the eyes of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It benefits many sentient beings and contributes to the worthy cause of furthering the Buddha Dharma in the West. We all know how difficult it is at times to live up to our own ideals, but if we can practice the Buddha's simple yet profound teaching of having true compassion and love for others, great things are possible.
Please come and help us to welcome Drupon Rinchen Dorjee in his new position and to usher in a period of renewal and growth for the sangha as a whole!! All are welcome to join us in a spirit of lovingkindness, compassion, and community.
