Shakyamuni Buddha - Soon Revealed!

Dharma Friends,

You'll remember in September that we held a get together, kindly
sponsored by Norbu and Dölma Samphell, in part to gather donations to
purchase a Buddha Shakyamuni statue for the shrine. Sangha members
Eric Swirsky and Heather Lindquist, both in Nepal and India in
December, cooperated to purchase and ship the statue. Now it's here!

The face is wrapped to protect it's delicate paint and gilding.
Rinpoche has asked that we wait for him to return at the end of the
month to unwrap it. At that time he will prepare to empower the
statue by filling it with mantras and other precious materials.
Perhaps he will enlist the help of sangha members to assemble and
prepare the items.

Thanks to all the people who contributed to this worthwhile project,
particularly Norbu and Dölma for their kind support and Eric and
Heather for all the legwork and hassling to complete the acquisition!

Please come to enjoy this terrific addition. It already brings a
significant new focus to our practice shrine.

Tashi delek,
Bill Pope
